many apps crash in IOS 10.0.1

Since upgrading to IOS 10, many apps crash quite often. Right now I cannot respond to any text messages on my IPhone 6 plus since the screen freezes as soon as I touch the box at the bottom of the screen to type my response to any text message. My IPad allowed me to get one response out, but then does the something when I try to respond to any further messages.

Please let me know when to expect a fix for these problems.
